For centuries, the phrase “make ready” has been given as a command to prepare for action. As a military term, the order to “make ready” has preceded everything from bayonet charges to artillery barrages. If you were an adventurer on expedition, the command “make ready” would have let you know that the journey was about to commence. 

To “make ready” is to prepare. To “make ready” is to do what is necessary to lay the groundwork for the task at hand. As fathers, when it comes to our children’s faith, our task is to help them “make ready” to face the world as Christ-followers.
